Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of the breast. It is typically performed under i.v. or general anesthesia in a surgical facility on an out patient basis. There are several different types of breast implants that can be used to achieve a particular size and projection. The breast implants are either placed under the muscle or in front of the muscle depending upon the patient profile and patient request.
Who are good candidates for breast augmentation?
The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. Many women feel that their breasts are too small and breast augmentation will give them the breasts they have always desired. Some women experience a loss of breast tissue after childbirth, and wish to have back what they once had. Others may have asymmetrical breast, and breast augmentation can give a more balanced and proportional look.
What is the recovery time for a breast augmentation?
The recovery time is usually 5-7 days, soreness can persist for a couple of weeks. It is advised to take it easy the first couple of weeks and most people return to work or normal activities a week or so after the procedure. Exercising will be limited during your recovery period, and you will need to clear it with Dr. Davis before you resume andy strenuous exercise.
